ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Master of Arts in International Development (MA ID) program at Nexus International University (NIU) Uganda distinguishes itself through a meticulously crafted curriculum that blends rigorous academic theory with practical, real-world application, tailored to the specific context of East Africa and the broader global landscape. This program is unique in its deliberate focus on producing “change makers” rather than simply academics. It achieves this by integrating experiential learning, including field research, internships with local and international NGOs, and collaborative projects with community organizations, ensuring students gain hands-on experience alongside theoretical knowledge.

NIU’s MA ID program is uniquely positioned within the Ugandan context, fostering a deep understanding of regional development issues and challenges. This local grounding, combined with a global perspective, prepares graduates to work effectively in both national and international settings. The program’s faculty comprises experienced practitioners and academics, providing students with access to cutting-edge research and practical insights.

Furthermore, the program’s structure is designed to be flexible, allowing students to specialize in areas such as sustainable development, policy analysis, project management, or social justice. This flexibility ensures that graduates are well-prepared for diverse career paths in government, NGOs, international organizations, and the private sector. The program’s focus on ethical leadership and social responsibility further distinguishes it, cultivating graduates committed to equitable and sustainable development practices. In essence, the NIU MA ID program’s combination of practical experience, interdisciplinary rigor, regional focus, and commitment to ethical leadership makes it a uniquely valuable program.
