Accreditation
Nexus International University, Kampala, formerly the Virtual University of Uganda, is licensed by the Government of the Republic of Uganda (Licence Number UI.PL.020). NIU degree and diploma programmes are accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). The NCHE was established as the regulator of higher education to implement the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act
of Parliament (UOTIA, 2001). By the provisions of the Act, NCHE is mandated to guide the establishment of institutions of higher learning as well as ensure delivery of quality and relevant education to all qualified persons. Nexus International University, Kampala is a member of the Inter-University Council for East Africa and other regional university fora. Its accredited degree and diploma programmes are recognised by other Higher Education accrediting authorities globally.
Nexus International University (NIU), Kampala, degrees and diplomas are registered on ANABIN database, Germany (as the Virtual University of Uganda. We are working towards changing the name on the database to Nexus International University). In Germany, the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) acts as the sole authority for the evaluation of foreign qualifications in Germany. As part of their
service, they maintain a database called Anabin that lists foreign degrees and higher education qualifications in relation to German diplomas and degrees. NIU degrees and diplomas are recognised by ZAB – and are added to the Anabin database as proof of NIU degree recognition in Germany and by extension globally. Nexus International University degrees and diplomas are recognised by the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, Nigeria. Graduates of NIU’s undergraduate degree programmes are qualified for mobilisation into the National
Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme. NIU is on the register of foreign universities maintained at the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja (as the Virtual University of Uganda, its former name).
