Description

A practical 8–10 week certificate that equips practitioners, facility managers and regulators with the technical skills and systems needed to manage solid and liquid waste responsibly, minimise environmental harm, and conduct robust waste audits. The programme blends regulatory frameworks, operational controls, auditing techniques and community engagement so participants can design waste systems that are safe, compliant and cost-effective.

What You Will Learn (6 modules)

● Waste management fundamentals: waste types, generation sources, segregation, storage and handling.
● Regulatory and policy frameworks: national waste laws, permitting, producer responsibility and international best practice.
● Collection, transport and disposal systems: route planning, transfer stations, landfill management and safe disposal options.
● Recycling, recovery and circular economy: material recovery facilities, composting, resource valorisation and market linkages.
● Hazardous and liquid waste management: classification, containment, treatment options and safe disposal.
● Waste auditing and data systems: audit design, mass balance, sampling methods, data collection and reporting.
● Health, safety and environmental controls: PPE, spill response, odour control and community health considerations.
● Stakeholder engagement and behaviour change: community mobilisation, informal sector integration and public awareness campaigns.
