Online students pay per term (three terms a year), on-campus students pay per semester, and Masters students pay per module. Amounts are in US dollars with the Uganda shilling equivalent at USD 1 = UGX 4,150.

Online students: fees per term (trimester)

NIU runs three terms a year, in January, May and September. Online learners are billed once per term, and tuition can be split into instalments with a payment plan option at enrolment.

National Certificate and National Diploma: fees per semester

Both awards run for two years and are examined by the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB). Students may study online or on-campus. All examinations are sat physically on campus.

Masters students: fees per module

Masters tuition is charged for each module taken. All Masters programmes are delivered exclusively online, including examinations, dissertation defence and every other academic activity. Dissertation and practicum supervision are charged separately each year. Every Masters field also has a postgraduate diploma (PGD), billed at $250 per term as shown in the online fees section.

Every Masters field has a postgraduate diploma. PGD students are billed per trimester and study completely online.

Progressing from PGD to Masters

Minimum gradeA grade of B or better in each module credited.
Time limitThe Masters must start within 3 years of completing the PGD.
One-off progression fee$1,350 (UGX 5,602,500), paid once when moving from the PGD to the Masters.
After progressionThe student pays the Masters module fee only for the modules not already credited, plus dissertation and practicum supervision.
