About

Energy, Global and Development Studies

The School of Energy, Global and Development Studies has been undertaking interdisciplinary teaching and research since the inception of NIU in 2011, to develop knowledge, skills and technology to support sustainable living in communities through sustainable energy systems and infrastructure as well as bringing solutions to the base of the modern development challenges. It is established on the vision of creating a learning hub that networks with Governmental and Non-Governmental actors of transnational significance to create an interdisciplinary educational environment. The School applies systems thinking and integrative methods to capture the complex interrelationships between all aspects of sustainability that has generated wider socio-economic and environmental impacts around the world to support sustainable development. In this way, it stimulates a creative inquiry, critical thinking and thoughtful expression of global citizenship. Ultimately, the School aims at preparing its graduates to address the many complex challenges facing our world that require a broad interdisciplinary perspective to create humane and sustainable development of states and societies.
