ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
This MACCS programme at NIU is intended for working professionals who need to
update and consolidate the skills necessary to operate in an ever environmentally
conscious fast-changing business world of today. The programme is designed to give
learners a deeper understanding of the inter-relationships between the environment,
climate change and overall sustainability context. It focuses on energy, environmental
assessment and management procedures, and low carbon strategies required by
industrial and commercial bodies, governments and society.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this programme are:
- To introduce the students to the advanced concepts of environmental management and climate change science within the context of sustainability.
- To critically explore the theory and practice of corporate social responsibility, environment and business towards global sustainability.
- Provide insights on key strategies, policies and practices designed to promote international development via climate justice within societies and among nations.
- Develop skills for analysing policies, planning and management of a sustainable environment in view of economic and social development in society.
LEARNING OUT COMES
Upon successful completion of the MACCS programme, learners are expected to:
- Demonstrate ability to the use and apply sustainability concepts within businesses and organisations.
- Apply the knowledge and skills gained in the programme to organisations in order to deal with the corresponding different challenges in society.
- Pursue further studies in the related fields of climate change, sustainability and environmental management.
- Describe key strategies, policies and practices designed to promote international development via climate justice within societies and among nations.
PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS
In order to enrol into the MACCS programme, a candidate is required to have:
- A minimum of second-class first degree or postgraduate diploma from a recognized institution.
- Adequate knowledge of computers, and access to a reliable computer and
Internet connection, and preferably owning a laptop. - A pass mark of 50 in the NIU Graduate Admission Test may be required.
