The BA (Hons) Business Management Top-up Degree is delivered online by Magna Carta College and validated and awarded by Buckinghamshire New University. This programme has been designed for students who see themselves as future business professionals in any industry (private/ public /voluntary).
The programme provides various opportunities to develop the knowledge and expertise required to be a successful manager.
The Top-up Degree blends both academic study and skills development in order to enhance your employability. In order to enable you to develop broad knowledge in the desired area, the course has an emphasis on applying the knowledge developed in real-life situations through case studies or working in and with real organisations.

Buckinghamshire New University has enjoyed a long and successful history since it was founded in 1891. The University offers an extensive portfolio of courses spanning the creative and cultural industries, the management and information management sectors, and the public sector. It also offers services to industry including contract research, consultancy and the opportunity to employ graduates.
The University has a state-of-the-art building in High Wycombe known as the Gateway, which comprises a learning resource and technology centre, events hall, gym, sports science laboratory, dance, drama, music and video production studios, library and meeting rooms, and many of our facilities are available to hire. We also have a thriving base for nursing students and applied healthcare research in Uxbridge, West London.
Enrol with one of the following qualifications:
- NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Business (L5DB)
- A pass in an HND (Higher National Diploma), a Foundation Degree or a recognised UK or overseas equivalent with a good level of business topics
- Mature students without formal qualifications, but with appropriate experience, may be admitted to the course
Students are required to complete the six following units:
- Strategic Marketing
- Managing Innovation in
- Business
- Leading and Managing Change
- Corporate Strategy and
- Governance
The assessment tasks include individual assignments, examinations, case study analysis, reflective portfolios and project work in a combination designed to assess and meet the stated aims and the required learning outcomes. There will be opportunity for formative assessment through discussions with tutors at specific times to review progress of work to date.
An average of 12-15 hours of study time per week for this programme.
All online study materials and student handbooks are supplied by Magna Carta College. Students will be allocated a tutor for academic support and have access to a Student Support Coordinator for administrative support. Students complete an online induction and have access to an online virtual learning environment.
On successful completion of the qualification, students can progress on to the Level 7 Diploma in Business Management in order to obtain a Master’s in Business Administration, alternatively, students can apply for a master’s degree at one of the many universities that recognise NCC Education qualifications or pursue a career in the business.
